BLOGMAS DAY 1 | 3 Things I’m Leaving Behind in 2022
With 2022 wrapping up rapidly, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the year and plan for the year ahead. I personally hate resolutions because I never really follow thru with them, so I like to call them goals. Everything that’s worthy takes time, no one was born perfect and with a plan. Every year around this time, I see memes that promise the next year will be THE year to make things happen, which I find pretty redundant seeing that every year, folks say they same things and don’t follow through when the year comes. I’ll be honest, I’m very much guilty of doing that just to end up disappointed in the long run. I’ve personally picked up on a few “bad” habits (not necessarily bad, but things that just aren’t healthy for the season I’m entering) that I’m praying that God helps me leave in the past as we enter 2023.
What I’m leaving in 2022:
FEELING GUILTY FOR RESTING
This one may sound cliche, or maybe some of you can relate with this one. I’ve learned that rest is a necessity, not a luxury - especially being a parent. I know for me, I always feel the need to be on go and stay busy. I remember telling my husband that I don’t know how to “chill” because I’m such a planner and doer, but I’m learning slowly but surely.
SAYING “YES” OUT OF FEAR OF DISAPPOINTMENT
I feel like this one goes along with what I said in the intro. I can only speak for myself, but I’m prone to people pleasing and not thinking about how I truly feel and sticking to my beliefs. That TikTok sound, “I GOTTA PUT ME FIRST” will always live in my head rent free because that’s exactly the mindset I need to be adopting. If you know, you know.
BEING CONSISTENT IN… EVERYTHING
Whew, this one is major. By everything, I mean every-single-thing. Procrastination is a killer and I’m almost positive some, if not all, of you feel me on this. It’s rough, but like I love to say, God got me, God got us. It’s time to become aligned, get focused, and stick to the plan. Whatever your idea of the plan is.
Let’s make 2023 a prosperous one by letting go of habits and stepping out of the comfort zones 2022 had us in a chokehold by. The time is now, but always remember, change doesn’t come overnight.
